Towards Navasana to handstand

For the last two weeks or so I've been pretty much doing just Primary. Approaching it Sharath style with nice tidy vinyasa directly out of the pose and on the breath. Polishing off the half lotus Jump backs, but generally an unshowy practice not even a handstand thrown into Sury A or B. Though I have been taking it up to kapo and karandavasana on my days off.

However the gods of frivolity will not be so easily dismissed. I started to notice something in my Navasana, A bit more lift, a couple started to feel a little Linoesqu. Where before, my Navasana to handstand, grandstand had been more of a swinging my hips up, this has started to feel more of a lift. Still not there yet but getting close perhaps. Either way I really like the coming down from handstand and swinging through to Navasana.

videoFoolishness I know, but as the fair Kino says, it's not traditional but can be fun (loosely quoted from her DVD ). One of the benefits of being a home Ashtangi is that we can pull this stuff occasionally in the middle of our practice. Remember really looking forward to Navasana this morning while in Mari C. How many can say that?

As usual, inspiring stuff, sir!

I encountered pick-ups like these a little over a week ago in an exploration of Intermediate; my Navasana has yet to see such vinyasa (after the 20 or so of seated, it's tough!).

thanks Patrick, it's wierd just started coming out of nowhere something to do with the placing of the hands, arm and shoulders as if you were already doing a handstand....but something happening too with the lifting up of the hips, haven't worked out what the hell is going on yet, fun though. I think the more controlled come down will be handy later for some of those vinyasas in 3rd

Well, I can't do your fancy tricks, but if you were in my class you'd be getting a toe in the lower back to make you lift your chest more :)

Gorgeous weather, when you coming in to have lunch with us?

Deserved too , hanging my head in shame. Lunch sounds good, when's your lunch day, maybe I can change my day off

Cameras used

I've been asked which camera I use for the pictures and videos on this blog.

This year, 2011,
I'm using the SamsungWB210
from 2008-2009
Panasonic Lumix DCMFX-500

Both have a mega wide angle lens, ideal for getting the whole of a posture in a shot and while filming in a small room in lowish light.
I tend to film the vinyasa with the video function and then take screenshots.
I edit with Quicktime pro on my imac, compressing with the export for web feature to post on YouTube
