So I wanted a new Manduka Equa Towel. I still prefer the old one I have to the Yogitoes and it's copies and tend to want to use it every day.A second one was called for.
Only three places to get them in the UK. The cheapest wasn't taking my card, the next cheapest didn't have the colour I wanted, so that left me with allergyliberation.co.uk/ who were charging twice as much as Manduka themselves.
Actually, Manduka have a sale on at the moment and the towels are half price so I was paying even more over the odds.
But it came, took a little longer than expected due to the snow but arrived safely.

Now look at the picture on the right. Doesn't that look Red to you? but now look at the picture below.

PINK! It's Pink I tell you.
Oh it's very pink, I have a pink towel.
My macho Workshop was finally coming around to the idea that perhaps yoga wasn't just for girls. They'd seen some of the videos on FB and Youtube, perhaps Ashtanga was indeed, a manly practice.
And then my PINK towel arrived.
But it's OK, I meditate, I'm laid back, I have my loving kindness down pat.
I'm cool with it.
"May Manduka towel designers be happy, May Manduka towel description writers be safe........PINK! PINK! PINK! PINK!"
It's not Sunset, it's #$@#$%^ PINK!
But too be fair, in the half light of early morning practice it looks.... well , still pink but a kind of darker reddish pink. It'll do I suppose, but don't expect to see it on Youtube.
Apart from it's pinky pinkness it's a really nice towel. I was a bit worried when I heard Manduka had modified it. It's still as smooth as suede but a little plusher, softer. It's more absorbent too and yet you can still rinse it out in the Shower and it'll be dry by morning.
I have it over the banister on top of my Manduka mat, can't help running my hand over it every time I walk past.
One last thing, a suggestion to the Manduka towel description writer.
'This Sunset towel is more a Pinkish, Pinky Pink kind of Pink sunset Pink, than the Red sky at night shepherds delight kind of sunset you might be thinking of.'

I always think of pink sunsets. But I am a girl : )
So you are ..... Wanna buy a towel : )
BAHAHAHA! I got the Sunset towel too thinking it would be red, but being a girl (and have you seen my site colours?) I was nicely surprised when it turned out to be PINK. Yes, it's most definitely a PINK and not at all red. ;p Only real men wear pink anyways so you're all good.
PS. Sorry you were outbid on my Kale towel. Better luck next time! (except I have no more to sell)
I love eQua towels, but I really hate the colours. The reason I ended up with 'slate' is because the 'sunset' was VERY pink (the one I saw was almost a 'hot pink') and the 'kale' was very pea green. I wish they would make turquoise blue or orange like YogiToes does.
Like you, I have a YogiToes, but it just doesn't do it for me. I like the plush, ultra-suede feel of the eQua.
Have fun with your new pink towel! I think you're starting a new trend ;-)
oooh la la! that towel is Right up my alley!!! ;0)
Hmm... I've been eyeing those equa towels for a while now. My black mat pro is great, but when warmed up my hands get slippery on it - esp. in down dog!
I didn't realize Manduka had the hand towels on sale, so I just may have to pick one up. Thanks for pointing that out!
I think it's the same material as the Prana Surya Yoga Towel that I use (and love)! No pink Prana towels, though...
Well, if they're that good, it's a possbility! Ho much???
HOW much....
How can the new towels possibly be more plush than the older version? I bought one very recently, which I believe is of the newer, modified type, and it has practically no thickness.
As for the pink, I'm a lady, and I don't even think I could do yoga on that. It's a little, uh... bright. I went with a subtle gray, myself.
Glad you thought it was red too Skipperty, probably best i didn't win yours seeing as i'd just ordered this one.
Susan It's growing on me, so I guess I'll keep it. I'm in touch with my feminine side. besides it is kind of reddish in the half light. Feels great to practice on too, really soft. think it's your colour though.
Misanthro' my old one is kind of like cardboard now and will pretty much stand up on it's own when it's dry, so this is plusher in comparison.I should check the weight. But it's not as bulky as my Yogitoes, which is a bugger to wring out in the shower.
I have a blue Yogitoes copy that I really like, Kai, perhaps you've seen it on some videos, but I agree about the Equa colours. Orange would be great. A stripy mysore style one would be even better. Maybe I should bring a stripy one out.
hi Mike. So it's just the hand towels on sale, thought it was cheap. Don't know how anyone practices on a Manduka without a towel, I couldn't do it.
That's interesting Karen, have you seen and felt both. Must check out the Prana colours.
I know it's kinda stupid going on about the colour of a towel, however I do wonder if the colour of the towel or mat your staring at for two hours has an effect on your mood. Blue light being relaxing and all that?
You crack me up... you know? I also do not like pink at all in spite of very much being in touch with my feminine side, so it was a shock when I noticed that my new shala would be pink EVERYWHERE (except for a few little walls here and there that are blue)... but, if it helps in any way, I think after a while it reconnected me with the energy of the Divine Mother... dont know why I felt like sharing that, but I guess I just did...
pink doesn't have a femenine connotation in China. it's considered a shade of red, which is an auspicious color. during the warm season, many men wear the color. even the staff of the metro wear pink shirts with grey pants.
Auspicious and connects me to the Divine Mother, OK, it's growing on me. To be honest, I do kinda like it now. It's only THAT pink in bright light or flash. In the semi dark practice room it appears more of a warm red. Savasana is even growing on me. I'm trying to embrace the ten minute Savasana rather than my usual minute and a half. Towel is great to lay back on for some Jana'ish (emphasis on ish) meditation.
10 minute Savasanas! Embracing orthodoxy with a vengeance.
