Kapotasana, ankles I'm tellin ya, ankles!

This just came out of nowhere and I had to stop myself from giggling in excitement like a kid as my hands carried on moving past my heels and clamped down around my ankles.

'though heady stuff I would gladly sacrifice the ankle grab for a smooth bind of the heel from the air without any of that fumblin' around. I do seem to land closer, perhaps it's coming.

Though I said it came our of nowhere, it's no doubt a result of all the Venki 'hang back' work courtesy of Boodiba, plus the extended Pranayama that I've been doing recently.

Pride cometh before a fall, they say. Full of myself from the ankle bind I moved on to walking in on Urdhava Dhanurasana. I was trying to get my hips up and straighten my legs more so I could touch my heels, lost my center of balance and it all went horribly wrong.

It actually sounds a lot worse than it was due to the floorboards. Back to the drawing board on that one.

Hi Grimmly, well done. Nice to see the progress. I think I am seeing some changes too but my back is not as bandy as yours so it's different progress. Glad you were alright after your fall. Working on chakra bhandasana alone is hard, I skipped that bit today, whoops!

Yes Helen, I seem to have a very bandy back at the moment : ) I shall become known far and wide for my bandyness.

Glad yours are coming along too, nice when a few of us are working on a similar thing.

You must be heading off to the Kino workshop about now no, I think Mel has just left going by FB.

Have a wonderful time. Can't remember, do you have Kino's intermediate DVD, she takes her kapo most of the way up her calves

Hi Grimmly. Yes I do have her intermedaite DVD, her Kapotasana is amazing, I can barely believe it! There is a mysore class on Sunday so hopefully will get an assist. I can get heels with help. Also there is a backbending workshop, sunday afternoon, very timely for me.

Workshop starts tomorrow but I teach a led primary Friday evening so am missing first session, travelling up Saturday morning. Marc off by himself tomorrow :)

By himself, wow after only a week, brave.

Your kapo looks great, great progress! Now I'm going to make another obnoxious teacherly comment and tell you to bring your elbows together, because if you had a teacher that's the help they'd be giving. :-))

Can't view the videos right now unfortunately, will look tomorrow. Going to read the previous post now.

Helen, you can get so much out of one mysore class with Kino! Talk to her first if you can. She's a sweetheart and so helpful. BF will love it too.

awesome! you look so comfortable in kapo, I wonder if you could hold it for 15 minutes like Iyengar?!

Grimmly said...

Yes Susan, I think so too, and my knees, noticed they tend to drift out a little.

Christina.......temptress:)

Actually I tried for a three minute Kapo this morning, just before the ankle grab. I bailed with about fifteen seconds to go. Editing it though brought it down to two minutes, seems I rock about for half a minute before I start dropping back. Just can't imagine fifteen minutes, the guy was Superman.

I wonder if the slight changes in the environment with the Spring coming are having an effect, and making things a little easier... I feel more stamina coming... perhaps the light, and the warmer weather...

No Claudia it's the magic of Venki!!! :) OK I'm going to watch the Urdhva D video now.

Ooh ouch! At least your head was pretty close to the floor already :)

Thanks Arturo, but my elbows are out as Susan says, and my knees a little. Need to write an iphone App for home yogis that shouts at you, keep forgetting things while I'm doing it. could call it Yogi reminders.
