One more leg raise, Tirang mukkha Uttanasana

A couple of weeks ago I posted on leg raises, something I've been exploring recently. Just come up with another one, think it might be called Eka pada chakra bandhasana.

Very much work in progress but the idea seems to be to drop back, walk in and lower to forearms. I thought it was perfect for another bit of leg raising, checked my Sweeney and there it was in the asana dictionary.

I'm interested in the forearm bit as I figure it's going to give me confidence to drop all the way over from Pinca, came close this morning but bailed at the last minute.

So, if your feeling a little bored with your dropbacks....

According to the Sweeney book, both forearms on the mat is called Dwi pada chakra bandhasana.

Come to think of it I think I saw this on Tony Sanchez's Yoga challenge IV video.

I was working on this when I was doing my bit of 4th - the Vrischikasana. Before exiting I'd drop feet to floor. Working that way got them at least into my dristi if not planted on top of my head.

Maybe you will inspire me to work harder at home. I'm in DESPERATE need of inspiration these days!

Thanks Arturo, especially for the 'grace' screenshots hide a multitude of sins, notice I didn't post the video.

hey Boodie, yeah you sound a little lost at the moment, practice in the doldrums. In the old days they used to have to lower boats and row the ship to fresh winds (love those old Errol Flynn movies). I'm struggling to get my feet on my head too, lets work on that, show me how it's done, a project! I kinda want to work on Punga Kukkutasana too but it's not in VK but then neither is Eka pada raja kapotasana, my bad. Parivrttasana circumambulation is though, did that on the course. Not sure you could do that in your flat, I can just about manage it in mine now i moved the sofa out.
All will be well, just grind it out till the wind picks up (easy to say when your not practicing 3rd four days a week I know).

I'm sooooo lost. So, so, so lost. Tomorrow marks my first week of daily chanting to Kali. I do feel as if I'm unraveling. I mean, this morning on the subway I was thinking about my former teacher C & I almost started crying and I'm not even hormonal.

Lost!

Eka Pada Raja Kapo is no problem, though the form & entry aren't correct. It's the no-hands feet to head stuff I can't do.

Also tic tocs now!

But whatever right?

tic tocks still scare the bejesus out of me i tried it on my own in LA after everyone left, bit of an unsightly mess, not even close. Hard to work on it at home too. Which is the bit your struggling with again (should read back through your last few posts -loved the journal cover btw ; ), can you work on just that bit separate from everything else at the wall at home somehow. Think I'm going to try dropping over in vrichi tomorrow, if i can do that it might take some of the mental block from doing it in handstand.

The tic (handstand to back bend) is absolutely no problem - it's the back handspring. I don't need any pointers though. I've done it often enough. All I need is force of will. I have to push it straight back. If I lose my nerve in the middle I'm screwed.

It was toughest doing that in Goa with mats six or seven inches away on either side and an open air half wall behind me.

I'm just weak spirited right now. That's the whole problem. I did three every day at the shala for a bit but right now it's too hard so I'll drop it.
