G, don't know how you are posting your videos from youtube, I find that if I go to the youtube page and click the "share" button, then select blogger and share that way, then the video tends to match the lenght of the center portion of my blog... just thought I would mention... you seem to have about the same width as my blog, so perhaps that would help...

regarding the size of the video, you can change the size in the html as well. i usually reduce it by 100 pixels in each dimension and it works for the size of my blog.

Thanks for the tip Arturo, just tried it and it's much better. i have a few videos i've posted that do this can go back now and tidy them up.
