Can the palatte be TOO broad.
Ramaswami explains the wide range of asana in Vinyasa Krama as an attempt by the yogis to access all areas of the body both inside and out.
Over a week or ten days it's possible to practice all the Vinyasa Krama asana, although I find the more challenging ones need to be practiced regularly to keep the required flexibility and even then...
There's a lot to be said for Ashtanga, the same smaller selection of asana practiced almost everyday, constantly working on the asana that challenge you the most...
In Bikram there are just, what, twelve asana practiced twice ( although more of course in the advanced practice).
So many asana so little time.
My current practice seems the best of both worlds, straight (pretty much) Ashtanga in the evening, the same asana daily hit. And Vinyasa krama in the morning, a different subroutine everyday while I work on the practice book notes and so variety, a different kind of exploration.
Perhaps after the book is finished I'll explore the above website some more, see which sequences and subroutines the 'new' asana would fit in, I'm not thinking just of the intricate challenging, fancy ones but the subtle variations of the familiar.
How would it feel to do this pose with that slight difference of focus...

Hi G, interesting lead there... just wanted to say I am keeping "tuck your tailbone" as a mantra too! and it is working wonders. I had no idea you can tuck your tailbone even in the most extreme backbending situations, now I know, thanks for the little new mantra!
Does make a difference, makes more space it seems. Really getting into Heather's Sun salutation.
