Just received confirmation from kpjayi, off to Mysore for 3 months in Nov.

Will ask S. for authorisation to teach Home Ashtanga, should be a done deal, humbly confident.

  3. Aw, c'mon. Everyone knows you can't apply more than four months out!

It'd be fun to hang out there, though. Consider February! :-)

  4. I applied through the special Home Ashtangi fast track scheme, just need a picture of your home practice room and another showing the condition of your mat as proof of your diligence. It's a very good scheme, you get to choose your preferred time of day to practice so it's in line with your home practice.
Might be able to extend my stay for a month and stay on through February, would indeed be nice to hang out.

I asked Micqui, Sharath says I can blog from his office.

  6. Yeah... while you're at it, you may as well tell us that Sharath is so impressed with your dedication and diligence that he has even waived your having to be in Mysore physically; he's just going to supervise your practice and give you real-time verbal adjustments via Skype, so you can "go to Mysore" in the comfort of your own practice room; that way, you won't have to deal with the all that Club Mysore BS... (damn! why didn't I think of this myself?)

Happy April Fool's, btw... although I think it is quite probably past noon where you are :-)

from Kalama sutra, translation from the Pali by Bhikkhu Bodhi This blog included. "So, as I said, Kalamas: 'Don't go by reports, by legends, by traditions, by scripture, by logical conjecture, by inference, by analogies, by agreement through pondering views, by probability, or by the thought, "This contemplative is our teacher." When you know for yourselves that, "These qualities are unskillful; these qualities are blameworthy; these qualities are criticized by the wise; these qualities, when adopted & carried out, lead to harm & to suffering" — then you should abandon them.' Thus was it said. And in reference to this was it said.

"Now, Kalamas, don't go by reports, by legends, by traditions, by scripture, by logical conjecture, by inference, by analogies, by agreement through pondering views, by probability, or by the thought, 'This contemplative is our teacher.' When you know for yourselves that, 'These qualities are skillful; these qualities are blameless; these qualities are praised by the wise; these qualities, when adopted & carried out, lead to welfare & to happiness' — then you should enter & remain in them.
