Mac seems to have up and died, freezing then a grey screen when you try to restart. Just a file icon in the Center of the screen with a question mark, lost and confused amongst the shades...
Run to the light Mac, run to the light.
Was just testing the Blogsy app for Ipad but it doesn't seem to actually post oh well.
Problem with Blogging from ipad is that you can't scroll through a longish post to edit, small posts then, not a bad thing perhaps.
Here's what I was trying to test Blogsy with, a video of Tim Miller performing some Advanced series adjustments at his place in Encinitas, doesn't this tempt you to make the trip?
No sign of any devil worshiping that I can see.
Perhaps that trial is not such a bad thing, some parents clearly have genuine concerns perhaps this will, hopefully, put many of their fears to rest and also make us pause and reflect before running around like a Minotaur in a labyrinthine china shop.
That said back when I was a schoolteacher in a little Christian Prep school I once added an S to the Religion class I was supposed to be teaching and taught the kids about Buddha....didn't go down well, so I can't talk.
Have a nice holiday weekend if you have one where you are, me I'm sick and trying to decide whether to go into work, just a viral throat infection, can breathe more freely now and even swallow...just about, but M. Is giving me a hard time about staying in bed...
Two days in bed is long enough, full practice yesterday, if you can practice then you can work.

Hey, hope you're feeling better, and I agree- if you're well enough to practice, you're well enough to go to work.
ReplyDeleteOff topic, and the main reason for posting though; you mentioned in a past post that I can't find now, your desire for SKPJ to have an intermediate series- Ashtanga Yoga Intermediate Series with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois - YouTube

Thank You Anon, feeling a lot better but just can't seem to shift this throat thing. Thanks for the link, I do have all these actually but somebody reading this might not and will be glad of it. I think I might have been wishing for a Manju led, might have written that on the post about Manju's DVD. For me Manju represents Ashtanga in the 70's, 50's even, how he was taught by his father. Even though the it's his father in the link you provided it's still the 90's. I'm interested in getting as close to that transition from Krishnamacharya to Pattabhi Jois as possible. Not that it's necessarily better or that much different or corrupted but of interest...to me anyway.
DeleteNo problems, Grimmly, was good for me to watch anyway, the primary and intermediate series, and see just how much work it is, when done well. And what a surprise, at the end, to find that one of the students is Tim Miller, and another, Richard Freeman. Is Ed Miller Tim's brother? Good to watch nonetheless, though I'm unsure of quite how to begins and whether to get to a point in the primary series where I can go no further, or to modify...what do others do, especially the home taught ones like you?
DeleteYes, always good to watch again. I remember the first time I saw it I was struggling with Kapo and here was Tim Miller not that comfortable with it either. It's chuck Miller, no relation. If you do a search on my blog I have some recent Chuck Miller videos/posts.
DeleteDifferent schools of thought re moving on if you seethe recent Manju Jois interviews I linked too you will read that his father used to modify to help the students learn the posture. David Swenson's book is excellent for this. I think these modifications are good for us practicing at home, we don't haveateacher to wrench and twist and pull us or gently guideus into postures.personally I don't see anything wrong in getting to Navasana and then doing some of the gentle 2nd series backbends rather than rushing into the deep forward bend of supta kurmasana but that's a personal view, common sense is the best guide. I feel now that there really is no rush. Personally I'm loving my Primary at the moment just working at making the breath longer and slower and keeping it nice a steady, quite a joy.but then sometimes you have to race forward for a bit before coming back to appreciate what you merely glanced at.
Hi Grimmly,
ReplyDeleteI was so thrilled that you posted this video. Jessica and Andrew have such a beautiful practice. In person, they are even more so. I shared this with Jessica and she recalled how it was recorded soon after the birth of her 2nd child. Amazing!
That adds a new dimension to the 'if only my arms were longer' complaint, see I know now, if I could only give birth my practice too would be beautifulandasadvanced. Such a nice video to share and great to see Tim's adjustments on some of these advanced postures ( sure there are some teachers reading/watching this who are taking notes)
DeleteDo we all get to hug Tim if we go to Encinitas, kind of hope so.
I would say yes, it is definitely worth the travel. I've been to see him twice - just for a couple of workshops. The short amount of time I spent really helped me. My husband was new to practice and came with me for one of the workshops; he loved Tim and was immediately hooked.
