Manju adjusting Prasarita C |
and after falling out of prasarita padottanasana C, Noble writes...
"This makes me think that somebody should maybe put together a Youtube video consisting of practice bloopers (falling out of the prasaritas, falling out of handstand/headstand, landing heavily on one's butt when jumping through into Bhujapidasana... can anyone think of anything else?). Might be fun to watch :-)"
Well a couple of years ago when i was videoing/documenting so much of my practice for the blog, I put something together. I'd forgotten all about this, thank you Noble for reminding me of every bump...
...couple of the same videos but with sound
is very funny videos, yesterda i had some accidente like in the 1 video minut 1'24 jump back in padmansa in the floor haha :)
ReplyDeleteI love this G. It's great to see the reality of practice; refreshing to see a video that isn't of perfect poses shot on a beach. Yoga Fact: if you want to learn Ashtanga you have to learn to fall.
ReplyDeleteI caught one of these on video just this afternoon... falling sideways out of a headstand into a heap on the floor... Good for a laugh!
ReplyDelete:-D!
ReplyDeleteHa! yep. I've fallen out of Bhujapidasana during practice of course, yet also while teaching - which broaches an entirely different topic.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for allowing us to laugh (inevitably) at your misfortune. There is of course nothing inherently funny about seeing another guy mash his sensitive parts on the floor or dropping inelegantly onto his head. There's probably some niyama against it, but I'm afraid I've just been rolling around simultaneously wincing and guffawing. This is just before doing my own practice for the day, so let's hope my karma doesn't catch up with me just yet. I've only just recovered from breaking a toe whilst falling out of a handstand.
ReplyDeleteLove this post! A more authentic representation of yoga, compared to the super polished asana-hero Instagram shots the more narcissistic of my colleagues like to publish of themselves.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite personal failings: beaching myself in Garbha, getting stuck in bhujapindasana, along with the ever popular falling on my head in dropbacks, and landing loudly on my heels on every single upavista konasana landing. Oh, and falling over in pasasana.
Lovely! What a bout this one:
